I am always a fan of more light hearted comic book superhero characters. Today the heros are dark and gritty, even heros who shouldn't be dark and gritty. And since The Blue Beetle that I grew up with in the 80's, Ted Kord, who was killed recently in the comics. So I thought I would do a tribute to him. Here is a hero who is a bit out of shape and a good sense of humor. No hiding in the shadows and brooding for Ted.

The art was a pen and ink drawing, scanned into the computer with color on photoshop.

The art is 2006 by me, the character is ©DCComics.

Ya, he is the BB I grew up with and ever since he was killed in the comics, I seem to like him more. I always go for the light hearted heros who don't take themselfs so seriously.

I'm reminded of the Blue Beetle character on "The Electric Company." I wonder which one came first...

In the comic books the character was startd in the 30's or 40's, but Ted was not the first one, and now that he's dead there is a new blue beetle.
